'Deadpool 2' release date, casting news: Morena Baccarin's rumored exit, Wolverine's appearance

The sequel to the action-comedy superhero flick “Deadpool” is officially happening and even though the upcoming film has not started production just yet, there already are rumors of a major change in casting, more specifically on the female lead character role.

“Homeland” actress Morena Baccarin was a revelation in the first movie where she played the love interest of Ryan Reynolds. However, it looks like her stint will be cut short after rumors that Reynold’s real-life wife Blake Lively is taking over.

However, the rumors are unsubstantiated and probably the only reason why it came out in the first place was because of Lively’s interview last week while guesting on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The comedy show host asked Lively about how she felt while watching the bed scene of Baccarin and her husband. She replied by saying that it was “an unusual form of torture,” especially that she had to watch it while onboard a plane with many people watching.

How sweet it is for a wife, especially an actress herself, to get jealous about his star husband’s film scenes with other women, but that’s not enough reason for the film crew and producers of “Deadpool 2” to pull the plug and get rid of Baccarin, who in fairness, did a great job in the first film.

Meanwhile, another rumor claims that there’s a chance for another Marvel character to make an appearance in “Deadpool 2.” The report said that Wolverine might do a cameo, but unfortunately, it’s unlikely that actor Hugh Jackman will be playing the role. In an interview with Yahoo, he said there’s always a possibility for someone else to play the iconic superhero role. “I think you’ve probably got several other people lined up to play the role,” he said.

“Deadpool 2” is expected to hit theatres next year.
