“Deadpool” was a once in a blue moon type of superhero film that wasn’t projected to be much of a hit compared to mainstream flicks in the same genre such as “X-Men” or “Superman.” But when it was released earlier this year, it earned almost $800 million at the box office, making it one of the most successful superhero films with a lead character that’s practically a newcomer. And with the success of the first film comes the talk of a sequel.
First things first, nothing is official about “Deadpool 2” at this time, which means that everything being written about it is mere speculation. Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean these rumors are baseless since most of them will likely turn out to be very accurate predictions later on.
For instance, one report tells the story of a character named Cable, whom Ryan Reynolds, the actor who plays Deadpool, mentioned in the post-credits scene of the first film as someone who’s going to appear in the sequel. That right there is more than enough proof that a second film is indeed in the works, or at least is in the planning process.
In another report from Mobile & Apps, it is claimed that Cable is indeed playing a major part in the upcoming film and that he might be portrayed by Kyle Chandler. The same publication also said that aside from Cable, another character, Domino, will also be featured and she may be portrayed by Mackenzie Davis.
This is turning out to be an interesting development considering that there were also previous rumors claiming that several other actors expressed interest in portraying the role of Cable. The list includes Ron Perlman (“Hellboy”), Dolph Lundgren (“The Punisher”), and Stephen Lang (“Avatar”).
“Deadpool 2” is expected to hit the big screen in 2018.
