After a long hiatus after the game’s release in previous consoles, Darksiders II will have a new developer, Gunfire Games to work on a remastered edition for next generation platforms PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
However, most of its members were from Vigil Games, the studio that worked on the original Darkside II game. The team said that working on the new version seemed “like hanging with an old friend,” reported Master Herald.
The developers were already brewing some large scale project but will still make their existing games available to broader audience, thus making this game available to next generation consoles, the Christian Post reported.
Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition will pick up from the story of the previous game to focus on Death, instead of his brother, War. Most of the changes are focused on the environment and character graphics improvement, while the gameplay is mainly retained. For the graphics, players can expect improved combat through the enhancements made by the team.
As Gunfire Games President David Adams said in an interview with Polygon : “One of the first things we did with this version was make some pretty significant rendering changes. We started with graphics and then went through the entire game.”
During the overhaul of the game and all its downloadable contents, players can already anticipate several DLCs such as Maker Armor Set, Rusanov’s Axe, Van Der Schmash Hammer, The Demon Lord Belial, Death Rides, Shadow of Death, and Argul’s Tomb, among others, but no further announcements have been made regarding the timeline.
Darksiders II is a hack and slash and action role playing game focusing on the story of Death, one of the four horsemen of Apocalypse. The game employs puzzle elements in the form of deciphering their ways through doors, portals, elevators, and levers to attain a particular objective. It is the sequel to the Darksiders game released three years ago for Play Station 3, Xbox 360, and PCs.
