Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition: Remastered version will feature enhanced 1080p resolution and include original DLC pack

When “Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition” becomes available for Playstation 4 and Xbox One later this year, gamers may expect a more enhanced and realistic graphic.

Gunfire Games design director John Pearl explained that there are more processes involved in deciding to upgrade the resolution, “When we thought about what we wanted to do for the “Deathinitive” edition of Darksiders 2, obviously we wanted to run in native 1080p and increase the resolution of the textures. Additionally, we decided to rewrite the renderer to be physically based like a lot of other current generation game engines,” Kotaku reports.

“What this means visually is metal, leather, stone and skin look and respond to light as you would expect them to in the real world. This new rendering method meant we revisited every texture and surface in the game, reworking and re-authoring them for the new renderer. To take full advantage of these texture changes, we’ve also gone back and relit the entire game,” he added.

Publisher Nordic Games announced the news last month, and said that original downloadable content will also be added in the remastered version. The DLC pack includes Maker Armor Set, The Abyssal Forge, The Demon Lord Belial, Death Rides, Angel of Death, Deadly Despair, Shadow of Death, Mortis Pack, Rusanov’s Axe, Van Der Schmash Hammer, Fletcher’s Crow Hammer, Mace Maximus and Argul’s Tomb, Game Informer shares.

The original version of the role-playing game was launched in PC, Playstation 3, Xbox One and Wii U by developer Vigil Games and publisher THQ. It proved to be a hit among the gamers but due to financial problems, THQ declared bankruptcy and the rights were picked up by Nordic Games.

Moreover, some of the Vigil veteran designers formed Gunfire studio, and they later work collaboratively with Nordic for the upcoming iteration of the game, Soft Pedia reports.
