'Dark Souls 3' update: New tool lets players plan their characters ahead of playing

Ever wanted to know how a “Dark Souls III” character will do without investing massive amount of time and effort to build up the desired stats? There is now a tool for that.

As reported by Kotaku, a “Dark Souls” hardcore fan known only by the username Naiyt, developed and release a tool that gives players a first look on how their charter will do in the game. This tool aims to develop strategic plans for the game and for players to have a glimpse on how their desired build will do without having to play the game at all.

The tool is available on the Mugenmonkey website, and the tool creator said that as of now, at least 200 character variations are created everyday with the tool.

“There’s an interesting subculture of ‘Souls’ players who enjoying crafting builds as much or more than actually playing them in game,” said Naiyt. “I’ve talked to a fair number of ‘Dark Souls 1’ character builders who say they rarely even play the game anymore, but still enjoy planning out characters.”

Meanwhile, as for the possibility of having a “Dark Souls IV” in the future, it appears that fans might have seen the last “Dark Souls” main game that the series will ever have, as the developing company, From Software, is ready to move on from “Dark Souls” to an entirely IP for future games.

In a previous interview, “Dark Souls” creator Hidetaka Miyazaki said that the future of the franchise would end with the upcoming DLC releases for the game, and a new game would be pout of the plans already.

“There’s absolutely no plan right now for any sequels, spin-offs, or tie-ins,” Miyazaki said. “But I can’t say for certain the possibility is 0 percent.”

The decision to end the game series appears to be something of a personal preference rather than the game not doing well in the market or critically.

“What is certain for now is, to me personally Dark Souls is over. So rather than make another sequel, I think it’s time we take a step to a new direction,” Miyazaki quipped.

“Dark Souls III” is currently available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
