'Daredevil' season 3 spoilers: Elektra to return, Charlie Cox believes Matt Murdock will learn from 'The Defenders'

The highly anticipated season 3 of Netflix’s “Daredevil” was confirmed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and some members of the cast and crew recently shared what can be expected in the follow-up narrative.

It can be recalled that back in season 2, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) had gone into full vigilantism which almost ruined both his professional life as a lawyer and his personal relationships with girlfriend Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and best friend Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson). He had been focused on discovering the Hand and helping out Elektra (Elodie Yung) who turned out to be the fatal weapon called Black Sky.

Showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez teased that when it comes to the latter’s character’s arc, “We know that the Black Sky is a very powerful tool for the Hand. And we know that the Hand is up to no d*** good. The clues can be found in the canon and in the comics, but we do hope that our viewers feel that we’re not done telling this story just yet.”

It is speculated that Elektra will return later on since her body had been dug up and placed inside a mystical casket. However, it remains to be seen if she will stay on the side of the good ones or turn evil during her resurrection.

When it comes to the new big bad, Cox told Screen Rant that the series will not be complete if the Man Without Fear’s notorious enemy does not make it to the small screen. “I can’t imagine doing a run of Daredevil where Bullseye doesn’t show up at some point. It would be great to have him around at some point. … When you read the comics, it’s etched in a Daredevil memory all that stuff,” he explained.

During a separate interview, the actor stated that since his character will be joining the upcoming team-up show “The Defenders,” featuring Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones), he believes that Matt will learn a lesson from them as he moves forward with new installment.

“He can’t do all this alone. And that’s to say maybe some teamwork He’s actually going to relinquish [some responsibility]. So whatever lessons he learns in The Defenders will then play into I think season three,” he added.

“Daredevil” season 3 is predicted to begin filming after “The Defenders” wraps up its production which is sometime during the end of 2016.
