Netflix might have confirmed that “Daredevil” season 3 was going to happen at San Diego Comic-Con 2016; however, fans have a long wait ahead of them since the upcoming season probably won’t air until 2018 thanks to the studio’s two Marvel series per year rule. With “Iron Fist” and “The Defenders” already scheduled for a 2017 premiere, “Daredevil” season 3 will be pushed back further.
So, what can fans expect when “Daredevil” returns from its two-year absence? Sources say Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) may not be the primary antagonist in season 3 since he will probably appear in “The Defenders” next year. Daredevil (Charlie Cox) is also going to be in that series, so the two can continue their battle there. However, Kingpin can always appear in both series.
Back in March, show co-showrunner Doug Petrie said that he knows that fans want to see more of the Kingpin in the future. “We know that the canon and the authors have afforded us some really interesting choices in where to go with Wilson Fisk and Matt Murdock. We’re glad that the vault is full and we get to pick and choose, but we’re certainly not at a place where we’ve picked or chosen just yet.”
Earlier this year, Cox also said he would love to see Bullseye appear in the upcoming season. Will the studio make this happen and cast someone to play the role of Daredevil’s arch-nemesis? It should be noted that Bullseye is a very important character in the comic books since he was the one who killed Karen Page and Elektra.
If the character does appear in the show, will he also murder the characters portrayed by Deborah Ann Woll and lodie Yung? According to Den of Geek, Jason Statham will be perfect as Bullseye. A number of Statham’s movies do feature him throwing knives with deadly accuracy, so that is an interesting choice by the publication.
