It seems that fans of The Man Without Fear might be sorely disappointed as season 3 of Netflix’s live action “Daredevil” series might be put on the backburner as the company focuses on other projects in the Marvel Cinematics Universe (MCU).
“Daredevil” season 2 was released and ended in March, introducing new characters to the MCU and functioning as a grittier installment for the franchise. Developed by Drew Goddard, the series’ first release earned critical acclaim. Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez took over from Goddard as showrunners for season 2, which was similarly received.
Unfortunately for fans of the series, Netflix has yet to renew the series and both Petrie and Ramirez have signed on as showrunners for the upcoming “The Defenders” miniseries. Ramirez and Petrie’s focus on “The Defenders” coupled with the fact that the miniseries will also include Daredevil (Charlie Cox) among its principal cast, present some problems for the future of the standalone “Daredevil” series.
“The Defenders” is scheduled to begin production at the end of the year, placing a damper on the development for “Daredevil” season 3. At the very least, if it does get renewed, season 3 might end up delayed well past the series’ expected spring release times.
As for any possible turnouts for season 3, Cinemablend reported that actor Charlie Cox has stated that he would like the character of Bullseye to show up as a villain at some point. In the comics, Bullseye is among Daredevil’s biggest archenemies with a personal vendetta against the hero.
Just like The Man Without Fear, Bullseye possesses no actual metahuman or supernatural abilities. Instead, Bullseye’s abilities are both similar to and the polar opposite of those of Daredevil’s. Bullseye’s senses are enhanced to the point that he possesses an uncanny precision for projectiles, much like Hawkeye; except whereas Hawkeye is famous for specializing in the bow, Bullseye is capable of throwing anything as a projectile or using projectile weapons with extreme accuracy.
With no news regarding season 3 of “Daredevil,” it seems that Bullseye will have to wait. For The Man Without Fear, however, fans can see him again when “The Defenders” gets released sometime next year.
