Trouble is cooking in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City and the pot might burst for The Man Without Fear in the next season of Netflix’s gritty installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Daredevil,” but that is only if a season 3 does end up being produced.
According to Cinemablend, the third season of “Daredevil” will have to tie up the loose ends of the plotline presented in the previous season. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) managed to beat the latest evil schemes of the ninja organization The Hand, but the organization itself has yet to be fully defeated despite being kept at bay from the Kitchen.
The Man Without Fear’s other primary antagonist, Wilson Fisk, has finally been arrested but his time in prison has allowed him to somehow still consolidate his power and become closer to his comic counterpart’s title of Kingpin. That means that despite fighting hard and losing some very precious things along the way, like Elektra (Elodie Yung), Murdock still cannot rest on his laurels as his enemies are still very much alive.
Moreover, a prospective season 3 might feature conflicts occurring even closer to home for Daredevil as the finale ended with him finally revealing to his love interest Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) who he really is. Meanwhile, The Hand recovered Elektra’s corpse for likely nefarious reasons.
While all of the above seems to set up “Daredevil” season 3 for some very big and interesting plotlines, the fact of the matter is that another installment in the series is highly unlikely, at least for the moment.
Reports indicate that a third season for the show might be delayed at best, due to the fact that Netflix has not yet officially greenlit another season. There is also the little problem of the show’s second season showrunners, Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, signing on to run the production of the upcoming “The Defenders” miniseries which will feature Daredevil working alongside other heroes.
“The Defenders” miniseries is currently slated for a release sometime next year.
