Netflix’s American web television series, “Daredevil” was confirmed for a third season back in July, and even though there’s been very little news about it, a few signs point to the new season airing in 2018. While a 2017 premiere for season 3 would have been a lot better, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series should be glad to hear that Netflix is proceeding with it.
While most delays in television are attributed to factors like low ratings, budget constraints and lack of material for the story, season 3 of “Daredevil” is reportedly being pushed back in order to give way to another Netflix program, an upcoming mini-series that will feature several MCU TV characters including Daredevil himself. In an interview with The Independent, actor Charlie Cox, who by the way plays the character, revealed that Daredevil will be joining Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage in “The Defenders.”
In a separate report, another possible reason why “Daredevil” season 3 will have to wait for another year is because Netflix wants to put more focus and priority on the new “Luke Cage” series for this year, while the premiere of “Iron Fist,” as well as “The Defenders” is slated for next year. Hence, there are more than enough Marvel shows for Netflix for the entire 2017 season.
Another casualty of the fully-booked schedule for Netflix is season 2 of “Jessica Jones.” Accordingly, the second season will not be aired ahead of those mentioned newcomers. Therefore, the best bet is that both “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” will be making their respective comebacks in 2018.
In the upcoming “The Defenders” mini-series, Charlie Cox will be reprising his role as the vigilante Daredevil, while Krysten Ritter plays Jessica Jones. The character of Luke Cage is portrayed by actor Mike Colter, while Finn Jones was given the role of Iron Fist.
