Rumors have been going around that Robert “Bob” Irwin, younger brother of “Dancing with the Stars” season 21 winner Bindi Irwin, will join the upcoming season.
The younger Irwin is said to have been inspired by his sister’s performance after tagging along with his mother to watch Bindi perform. Of course, Bob will have a lot to prove, should the rumors be true, as Bindi has been the youngest performer who had convinced the judges to give her the most number of perfect scores as well as one of the youngest dancers to win the competition.
Aside from Bob, other casting rumors include Rashad Jennings from the NFL’s New York Giants, Ben Higgins, the current star of “The Bachelor” season 20, as well as actress Italia Ricci from “Chasing Life.”
Rumors regarding Higgins sparked when he told E! Online in an interview regarding the new season of “The Bachelor” last month that he is open to join the show after his current reality television series wraps up. Higgins was first seen dancing as he was trying to impress Kaitlyn Bristowe in the recently concluded “The Bachelorette” as one of the bachelors.
Prior to Higgins’ statement, Jennings also expressed interest in proving himself in the dance floor, particularly in “Dancing with the Stars,” a show he loves, noted an exclusive report from TMZ.
On the other hand, Ricci hinted through her Twitter account that Alexa Vega, one of the contestants in the previous season, is convincing her to join, quoting her friend, “If Gary Busey can do it, so can you!”
No official confirmation has been released regarding the final roster of contestants of “Dancing with the Stars” season 22.
Meanwhile, there are also rumors that Bindi’s partner Derek Hough, who has bagged six wins to date, may not return for the show when it premieres for season 22. In a statement last November, he told E! News, “I don’t know, who knows. I have to say this isn’t a bad way to go out.”
“Dancing with the Stars” season 22 will return the small screen on March 21 on ABC.
