Aside from the impressive young dancers on “Dance Moms,” another draw is obviously their mothers who are as competitive as their daughters, if not more, in putting on a show week after week. Tonight’s episode, however, may have the latter take center stage overshadowing the kids’ actual routine.
In the installment titled “Mommy Meltdown,” the mothers of dancers Alexus Oladi, Peyton Evans, Elliana Walmsley, Lilliana Ketchman and Areana Lopez will experience budding tension against fellow dance mom, Kira Girard. Apparently, Kalani Hilliker’s mom will confront the other mothers from the Mini Elite team after they try to approach coach Abby Lee Miller while rehearsals are ongoing.
The commotion was teased in a promo clip released by Lifetime for episode 26. In the snippet, it appears that Miller took Girard’s side, even thanking her gesture of defending her from the rest of the crew. As it turns out, a problem rooting from the older members not yet fully grasping their choreography sparked the meltdown from the moms of the younger dancers.
“I’m not letting a bunch of mothers of 7-year-olds degrade our children,” Girard says while trying to shove Stacy Ketchman out of the rehearsal room so the dancers can proceed with the practice session.
Fortunately, the situation eventually turned out well with “Dance Moms” spoiler site revealing that despite the incident, the Junior Elite team was still able to rank first place in the Fierce National Dance Competition. The event took place at the Pinnacle High School Theater in Phoenix, Arizona last May 7. The dance group placed first in the Teen Division and Overall for their Contemporary/Lyrical presentation. The Mini Elite team, on the other hand, also finished on the podium as they were first in the Mini Division and second Overall for their dance number “Wait For Me Mom.”
“Dance Moms” season 6 airs every Tuesday, 9 p.m. ET, on Lifetime.
