CBS’ crime drama “Criminal Minds” is still having a successful run as it heads toward its 12th season. It is said that the upcoming installment will be adding a new character making it worth anticipating by most of its avid followers.
Reports say that “CSI: Miami” star Adam Rodriguez will be the latest addition to season 12 of the show. He is said to take on the role of Luke Alvez, a former army man who joins the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). Fans can expect to see his character all season long as Rodriguez has been made a series regular.
The season 12 premiere of “Criminal Minds” dubbed “The Crimson King” will feature Luke at the helm of the task force that is in charge of catching the 13 high-profile prisoners who escaped in the final moments of last season. Prior to the events of the premiere, Luke had already captured a substantial number of the escaped inmates, most of whom are convicted murderers. It has been revealed that there are only five left to catch and that the first episode will zero in on one of these remaining escapees.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rodriguez explained that his character may experience blunders from time to time, considering the fact that he is still a newbie to the BAU. “You’re not getting somebody that’s coming in as an expert just jumping into the mix,” he said.
Rodriguez added that Luke will be definitely working his way to at least be on par with the tenured members of the group and learn from them at the same time. Moreover, the actor also expressed his excitement with the current project that he’ll be in.
Season 12 of “Criminal Minds” airs tonight, Sept. 28 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
