As Apple and Android upgraded their operating system (OS), the game developer must also make updates to integrate the game to the new OS. Unfortunately, this also means that mobile devices without the supported OS can no longer play the game. Currently, avid players of “Clash of Clans” are experiencing this issue.
In a recent announcement from Supercell, the developer of the hit mobile strategy video game, it was noted that the game will stop supporting iOS versions lower than 7.x.
“In order to keep playing Clash of Clans, please update to iOS version 7.x (or higher) as soon as possible. You won’t be able to play Clash of Clans unless you have updated to iOS 7.x or higher, or if your device does not support iOS 7.x or higher,” according to the statement.
Apple devices that are not iOS7-capable include iPhone 3G S, iPod Touch third and fourth generation, and iPad first generation.
However, there were also Apple devices that were initially dispatched with a lower iOS version than 7.x, but can update to iOS7 or higher. These include iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod Touch 5th generation, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, and iPad Mini 1st generation.
Meanwhile, Supercell has released a new update for the multiplayer online game. It’s optional, though, but this will fix known bugs, and it also contains memory improvements and optimizations. The upcoming events will now display the hours in this system update. It will also remove the winter theme from the game which was launched on December 2016 for the holiday season.
It was noted that “Clash of Clans” will hold two events in January. These events are the Jump Spell promotion, which cut down the Elixir cost to 2,300, based on the player’s level, and the Wizard event, which allowed players to use several Wizards.
The website All Clash speculated that there will be a special value pack for the Chinese New Year for “Clash of Clans.” At this time, there is no confirmation from Supercell regarding this value pack.
