It looks like some civilizations are going to have more than one leader in “Civilization VI.” 2K and Firaxis Games just confirmed this by revealing Queen Gorgo of Sparta as the second leader for Greece. Now, players can choose between Pericles and Gorgo when they start a game as Greece.

As the wife of King Leonidas I, Gorgo actually appeared in the movie “300” where she was played by Lena Headey, so it’s not like she’s some unknown queen. Gorgo’s unique ability is called Thermopylae. This ability allows Greece to gain Culture every time an enemy unit is defeated. The Culture bonus is equal to 50 percent of the defeated unit’s strength.

When a computer AI plays Gorgo, don’t expect her to give up any resources when signing a peace deal. Since she embraces the warlike culture of the Spartans, Gorgo also dislikes civilizations that have never fought in a war or civilizations who surrendered in a peace deal.

There will be slight changes if players choose to go with Gorgo as Greece’s leader. Instead of having a starting city named Athens, Sparta will be chosen instead. Of course, players can rename the city, but computer AIs will always automatically choose the first choice given. Instead of blue, Greece’s color will be brown if Gorgo is chosen.

Longtime “Civilization” players will know that multiple leaders for some civilizations is not exactly new. The game franchise started introducing multiple leaders in “Civilization II,” but they went back to single leaders per civilization in “Civilization V.” Right now, several sources believe more leaders will be introduced to the game when downloadable contents (DLCs) come out in the future.

Meanwhile, Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin is back on board and he has developed a new theme song for “Civilization VI” called “Sogno di Volare,” which is Italian for “the dream of flight.”

“Civilization VI” is scheduled for release on Oct. 21.
