Contrary to recent speculations, supermodel Cindy Crawford is not letting go of modeling any time soon. She clarified this in a post on social media.
“Every year, I tell my kids I’m retiring. It’s a running joke in our family. And yet every year, opportunities pop up that really excite me,” her post on Instagram reads. “While it’s true that I’m eager to shift my focus a bit to concentrate on my businesses, friends and family I’m not making any final statements (not all headlines tell the whole story!).”
Her post continues: “I have loved being part of the fashion industry for the past 30 years and if that time has taught me anything, it’s this: never say never. Thanks for all the support, I’m so excited for what 2016 holds! xo Cindy.”
The rumor sparked from Crawford’s interview with Rhapsody Magazine where she stated her plans to retire once she turns 50. Her 50th birthday happens on Feb. 20, but she isn’t actually leaving the modeling world, she only wants to shift her focus on other things. She also expressed that she wants to stop having to prove herself.
She said: “I’m sure I’ll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore.”
Prior to having this interview, she just finished a project for Balmain’s Campaign 2016, which also included models Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer.
Crawford’s career started to blossom when she got discovered during her teenage years while posing in a bikini for a photographer while she was in DeKalb, Illinois where she is originally from.
The model is a mother of two: 16-year-old son Presley and a 14-year-old daughter Kaia, who is also making her way into the modeling industry. This is no surprise ? she is, after all, the daughter of one of the most well-known models to ever grace the covers of Vogue magazine.
