After taking its winter break, “Castle” season 8 is back, with a new murder case to work on in its midseason premiere.
In episode 9, titled “Tone Death,” Rick (Nathan Fillion) and Kate (Stana Katic) teamed up to solve the murder mystery of one of the fellow performers of Ricks’ mother, Martha (Susan Sullivan). However, the couple were still secretly keeping their rekindled romance, with Rick making up reasons to continue working at the 12th precinct. He also made up a random name as his friends Ryan (Seamus Denver) and Esposito (John Huertas) accused him of cheating on Kate.
Meanwhile, the upcoming episode will feature a back-to-back story, titled “Witness for the Prosecution” and “Dead Red” for episodes 10 and 11, respectively.
In the official synopsis posted on Spoiler TV, “Witness for the Prosecution” indicates, “Castle finally gets his day in court when he takes the stand as the key witness to a murder from five months ago. But when new information suddenly arises, he and Beckett must race against the clock to prevent a miscarriage of justice.”
At the moment, no official summary has been posted for episode 11, but it will most likely continue on the story from episode 10, as well as some love angle.
In the promotional teaser posted on the same page, it revealed that there will be a “brand new Castle double date.” It looks like Rick and Kate are still hiding their romance under the table as they surreptitiously glance at each other while in the office.
Towards the end of the clip, as the couple were left alone, Kate was telling Rick, “Be charming but not too charming,” to which the latter replied, “it’s like asking Superman not to be too super.”
“Castle” season 8 airs Monday nights at 10 P.M. ET on ABC, but episodes 10 and 11 will be aired on two straight nights, Feb. 14 and 15.
