While fans of “Castle” were re-assured by showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter that the two main leads’ marriage will not end this season, viewers are still guessing on how the story will further blossom given the present circumstances of Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic).
With only two more episodes before the fall finale and while Rick has been trying hard to win his wife back through a surprise for their first wedding anniversary, Kate seems to be drifting further and further away from him.
In a teaser for “Castle’s” episode 7 titled “The Last Seduction,” Rick is shown asking some help from Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Esposito (Jon Huertas) for his surprise to go according to plan without any glitch. He also told Kate how excited he is in celebrating their first year of marriage saying, “Tomorrow is our anniversary, and I just can’t bear the thought of spending it without you.” However, Kate is obviously not feeling the same as snippets of her contemplating a divorce were also shown.
Followers of the show might be happy to finally see Rick and Kate interact after “Cool Boys,” where Rick was mainly seen hanging out with long time pal Ethan Slaughter (Adam Baldwin) and Kate missing in action. However, the teasers are not giving anything in terms of reconciliation.
In a report by website Latin Post, a good amount of time of the seventh episode will also be spent hunting down a brutal murderer of an elusive conman where Kate goes undercover and ends up in the locker of a social club with nothing but a towel.
Master Herald, however, hints at a reunion of the married couple as, apparently, the separation has made a lot of fans frustrated resulting on the show’s decline in viewership. The decline then caused the showrunners to re-evaulate the story plot for this season.
Winter also acknowledges that Kate and Rick will reunite, revealing that it will happen in the upcoming episode as Christian Today noted. Furthermore, he also said that the reason behind the separation as posed by Kate will also be looked into.
“Castle” airs every Monday night on ABC.
