'Captain America: Civil War' news: Tom Holland's recent photo on set rouses more speculations on Spiderman's role in the story

It looks like Spider-Man has finally joined in the fun! The newest Spider-Man, Tom Holland, has been spotted on the set of “Captain America: Civil War.” Unlike the first few photos of him with the movie’s crew, Holland could be seen aboard something in the most recent image.

The viral snap was tweeted by Louis D’Esposito, Marvel’s co-president, producer and director. It showed him and Holland in a cockpit of an aircraft. Based on the background of the photo, the interior of the aircraft looked like the Quinjet, one of the Avenger’s fighter planes. If so, it can be assumed that Spiderman will be on Team Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) as ironically, Captain America (Chris Evans) will be the rogue character in the movie.

With the countless theories on who is with who in the aforementioned movie, Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Ant Man (Paul Rudd), and Spider-Man are the three remaining big characters who are still in limbo when it comes to their allegiance.

The tweeted image roused guesses that Peter Parker siding with Tony Stark is parallel to what actually happened in the comic book version of the story. Although Marvel and Disney have deviated from the comic books in their movies, it is still interesting to ponder on if Spider-Man would also be jumping fences from Iron Man’s to Cap’s towards the end of the movie just like he did in the books.

As of now, it is still a little bit difficult to gauge what exactly is Holland’s role in the movie or whether it is going to be a small or big one, but one thing is for sure – given how Marvel is guarding the character, it going to be interesting. Holland’s new take on the beloved web weaving superhero is highly anticipated in this movie as this will be his debut stint as Spider-Man before he goes off on his own adventures through his solo movie in 2017.

“Captain America: Civil War” drops on May 6.
