Fans are already anticipating some great movies this year. Arguably, no other movie has been headlining every media outlet with various updates more than “Captain America: Civil War.”
The Russo Brother, who are currently helming a couple of Marvel’s biggest projects like “Avengers: Infinity Wars,” shared the differences between “Civil War” and “Captain America: The Winter Solider,” which they both directed.
“Of course, ‘Winter Soldier’ was a political thriller. We think of ‘Civil War’ as a psychological thriller. It’s a complicated movie,” they said. As previously reported, “Civil War” will basically change the whole dynamics in the whole MCU as the division of established groups is made more complicated by the personal relationships of the core characters with each other like Captain America (Chris Evans) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and War Machine (Don Deadle)
Still, the Russos shared that despite having the dramatic element, the movie is bound to still make fans laugh saying, “There’s a good portion of [‘Civil War’] that’s actually funnier than ‘Winter Soldie’ because there are characters in that film, that come from worlds where the tone is more comedic.” Perhaps, they were pointing to Ant Man and Spider-Man who will both have mysterious participation in the movie.
But just like any good movie, a balance of light and dark is needed to attain that chemistry that has made Marvel a juggernaut in terms of viewership. The filmmakers did just that by balancing both elements.
“I think there are a lot lighter moments because there are much darker moments as well. We did have to work very hard at that.”
“Rogue One” may technically be the most anticipated movie of the year according to a recently held poll, but with it premiering in the latter half of the year, everyone’s eyes are zeroed in on Cap’s third stand alone movie which will hit theaters on May 6. Rumor has it that along with “Civil War” is the first trailer for the upcoming “Star Wars” spin-off.
