In December last year, Activision officially confirmed that “Call of Duty” will finally have its first downloadable content map for “Black Ops III” titled “Awakening.” After over two months, the DLC is finally rolling out on March 3 for Xbox One and PC users.
The extension pack first became accessible to PlayStation 4 users almost a month ago because of an exclusivity bond with the gaming console and has garnered pretty great reviews. Metro reported that gamers will get everything they expect from the DLC following the patterns of the four maps and co-op level as they are supposed to be.
The dropping of “Awakening” signals the imminent arrival of “Black Ops III’s” first DLC Zombie mission titled “Der Eisendrache” which will be located on top of a mountain. Furthermore, it will also present four brand new Zombie mega Gumballs which aim to help the player battle the zombies. The setting being in a medieval castle offers more of challenge which will delight pro players.
Overviews of the four different maps that will come with the extension read:
- Skyjacked: A reimagined classic that retains the same fast and frenetic gameplay from one of the most popular maps in Call of Duty history.
- Gauntlet: Plays up the core philosophy of Treyarch’s classic three-lane map structure with three distinct environments.
- Splash: Set in an abandoned water park, an imaginative environment with waterslides, a lazy river and a wrecked pirate ship.
- Rise: A Coalescence Corporation construction project catering to a mix of classic Call of Duty cover based combat.
Despite only a few days before “Awakening” gets its release, neither Activision nor Treyarch officially announced the exact time when the DLC will go live. However, Product Reviews assumed that it will be around 1 A.M. PT or 4 A.M. EST onwards which is when Activision usually releases their online content.
