'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' Awakening DLC news: Xbox One and PC version now available

After a month-long wait, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” downloadable content pack titled “Awakening” is finally available for Xbox One and PC users.

According to This is Xbox, the DLC was first released for PlayStation owners as part of the timed-exclusivity deal with Activision. The agreement gives the PS brand 30 days of enjoying the updates before other platforms can have their respective versions.

The DLC brings four new multiplayer maps alongside several modifications. The maps include Rise, set in construction facility and described as a classic COD map with a lot of cover to cover combat; Splash, set in abandoned water theme pack which utilises slides to move around and may have underwater fighting; Gauntlet, a military training environment with a mixture of environments such as sub-zero artic, tropical jungle and urban taking a three lane design approach; and Skyjacked, a remake of the classic Hijacked map from “Black Ops 2” that allows for the players to try their abilities in maximum.

The pack also features the first chapter of the new zombies adventure dubbed as ‘Der Eisendrache’ which is set in Griffin Castle inspired by real life Hohenwerfen Castle in Austria. The players will get to take an epic journey using the Origin characters including Richtofen, Nicolai, Takeo and Dempsey. The gameplay will revolve around the discovery of massive deposit of Element 115, a variety of exciting plot twists and surprises that await the gamers.

For those who have to yet to download the DLC, it is advised that they first get the March update that is currently rolling out. Its installation is said to fix a lot of bugs and makes the platforms ready for more content. The update is around 1GB for Xbox One.

“Awakening” may be purchased as standalone pack for $14.99 or as part of the season pass for $49.99 which offers around $10 savings.
