'Borderlands 3' news: Gearbox Software starts development of new game

Recent news revealed that “Borderlands 3” is currently in development.

Fans have been waiting for news regarding the title’s progress after it was announced. It was stated that “Borderlands 3’s” development has not yet started since the developer of the game, Gearbox Software, was busy working on the upcoming release of “Battleborn.”

However, now that “Battleborn” is expected to be released in a week, fans finally got a chance to hear more news about the new installment in the “Borderlands” series. The CEO of Gearbox Software, Randy Pitchford, recently posted a tweet that teased the progress of “Borderlands 3.”

According to IGN, Pitchford stated that the art director of “Battleborn” is now moving forward with “Borderlands 3.”

Aside from Pitchford’s tweet, the executives behind the game also shared some important details about the game during the Penny Arcade eXpo East Panel. The Chief Creative Champion of Bearbox, Mikey Neumann, spoke about an upcoming character in the film.

Neumann hinted that there is a possibility that “Borderlands 3” will include Scooter’s son, named Scooper. He said, “I did this whole Scooter thing, then I pitch-shifted it up like seven semitones so it sounds like a chipmunk and it was the funniest thing I’d ever heard.”

However, Neuman explained that this character pitch has yet to be finalized. Meanwhile, there has yet to be any details regarding who else will be seen in “Borderlands 3.”

In addition, Pitchford explained that fans will see some “Borderlands 3” Easter eggs in the new “Battleborn” DLC. During the Expo, he said, “There’s already a lot of Borderlands Easter eggs in Battleborn. But they’re all from previous Borderlands games. So what if we put Easter eggs for future stuff in the DLC?”

In the meantime, fans can enjoy “Battleborn” when it becomes available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC this May 3.
