The second season of Netflix’s original thriller-drama series “Bloodline” came out just barely two weeks ago, and the show’s viewers are already itching to discover what comes next for the Rayburn family of Monroe County, Fla. despite the show still not being renewed for another run.
It was only the previous year when Ben Mendelsohn performed in his breakout role as Danny Rayburn, the show’s central character the eldest child and black sheep of the Rayburn family who returned after a long absence. Despite his character dying at the end of the first season, the actor still regularly appeared in the second one through flashbacks and ghostly visions, still managing to drive the show’s events.
According to an interview between The Hollywood Reporter and “Bloodline” co-creators Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler, and Daniel Zelman; season 3 of the show will still keep the character of Danny on and the storyline will continue to be driven by his influence on his brother John (Kyle Chandler).
According to Kessler, Danny is a core component of the show’s story and as such his influence on his family will always remain despite his death. “At the center of this tragedy is the effect of this black-sheep brother on the family. So we never want to get too far from his murder and we never want to get too far from the influence he had on his family,” he said.
As for Danny’s murderer and brother, the creators said that a season 3 might very well explore the character’s deeper and darker aspects. They said that as the show goes on and as John discovers more about himself, there will also likely be darker aspects of his personality that might surface.
The creators even claimed that they discovered a “capacity for darkness” in Chandler himself, something they hope to use as they further refine the character into their vision of who he might become.
But the above is if the show gets renewed by Netflix in the first place. As the second season is barely two weeks old, the creators said that they would have to wait to discover how their creation performs before actually cementing any prospects.
