“Bloodline” season 2 left a lot of questions unanswered with regard to the Rayburn children. And though the show’s future is still uncertain at this point, fans are already theorizing on what kind of drama a potential third chapter will bring to the table.
The thriller series made a 180-degree turn when goody two-shoes John (Kyle Chandler) attempted to kill his brother, Danny (Ben Mendelsohn). Unfortunately, the show did not disclose whether the oldest of the Rayburn siblings will eventually survive the murder. Nevertheless, “Bloodline” co-creator Glenn Kessler shares that Danny will still be a pivotal element in their future narrative, regardless of whatever form he will be in.
“It feels like the DNA of the show is really informed by Danny’s influence on his family, so that will always be there, either in death or being haunted by his memory,” Kessler explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “At the center of this tragedy is the effect of this black-sheep brother on the family. So we never want to get too far from his murder and we never want to get too far from the influence he had on his family.”
Given John’s sudden decision jump from being a good guy to being a bad one, his plot arc may be hinting that a more complex character may emerge from him.
Aside from his brothers, Megan (Linda Cardellini), who by the end of the second season was back where she started, has things also hanging in the balance. Unfortunately for her, even if she tried to move forward with her life via a new job in New York, she will still find herself back in Florida Keys. Worn out and stressed, she was already at her tipping point when she decided to confess her sins to Sally (Sissy Spacek). But just like Danny’s fate, it is still unknown whether she went ahead and admitted to her misdemeanors.
“I’m looking forward to how it turns out when whatever it is I say to Sally whatever that next sentence is, I’m very excited to see where that leads if anybody actually tells the truth,” Cardellini coyly told Gold Derby about the aforementioned conversation that left a lot of fans on the edge of their seats.
Unfortunately, viewers will have to wait an indefinite amount of time to find out how these conflicts will ultimately be resolved or if they will be resolved at all. Netflix has yet to make an official order of “Bloodline” season 3.
