Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner marriage: couple stick together for the holidays for their children's sake

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are no longer officially a couple after their divorce in June, but they are still planning to spend their holidays together this year.

Last week’s issue of People quoted a source saying, “Jen and Ben are figuring out right now how they can best spend the holidays together.” And Garner, the source went on to add, “wants to get along with Ben for the kids’ sake.”

And so, despite his busy schedule in Georgia and Massachusetts directing his “Live by Night” film with his co-stars Zoe Saldana, Sienna Miller, and Scott Eastwood, Affleck took the time out on Nov. 14 to be with his children. Back in Los Angeles, he and Garner took their children cupcake decorating. They also went for a trip to a toy store. Affleck and Garner just wanted the day to be “fun for the kids,” another inside source commented.

On E! News, a source shared that Affleck and Garner “are a unit.” The source continued, “They are all about the kids and making sure they are okay. They are committed to parenting together.”

Both see their children as their priority and that, even though their relationship has not worked out, they want to be there for their children, Violet, who is nine, Seraphina, six, and Samuel, two, giving them as much of a normal life as possible. This is why both actors are giving the holidays a shot, despite it probably being an awkward time so soon after their divorce.

An E! News source claimed that they will spend time with “both” sides of the family as a unit, as they see “family” as the most important thing.

In the face of nasty rumors that had sprung up in a tabloid shortly after the couple’s break-up of Affleck dating his children’s former nanny, Christine Ouzounian—something Affleck’s rep denied as a merely shameful ploy by the tabloid—the issue was resolved quietly.

E! News talked with a source close to Affleck and Garner who claimed, “There was a lot of tension between them for a while, but it wasn’t all about the nanny.” The source added, “It’s never easy for a couple going through a split.”

With the couple’s pact to put up a united front for their children seeing them in public, spending a lot of time together, some talk has surfaced regarding a possible “rekindling,” but this does not seem to be in the books right now.
