Aside from the members of the cast who will give life to the characters of Disney’s classic animated film, “Beauty and the Beast,” not many details are being shared when it comes to the highly anticipated live adaptation movie.
During the promotion of the movie “Regresion,” actress Emma Watson who will portray Disney princess Belle, told Movie n’ Co that there will be three new songs written by Alan Menken. When it comes to the plot, “I think it goes a lot deeper into things, it’s much more layered. It tells parts of the story that perhaps missing in the animation because it’s shorter, so that’s really exciting.”
She added that it was “so fun to get to sing” and dance as she has never done it before for a film. She also did some horseback riding and learned so many things that she can take away with her.
Talking about her iconic role as Hermione in the magical “Harry Potter” series, Watson stated that wrapping up with Beauty, felt like “a nice completion of a circle in a way,” “I started with this world as a child and somehow that film felt like my transition to playing woman, into womanhood and as an actress and getting to play two of your personal heroines is very unusual, I think, and so special.”
Meanwhile, co-star Luke Evans who portrays the villain Gaston shared with MTV that Watson is perfect for the part as she embodies what Belle should be in the 21st century for the young girls. He mentioned that even though the actress is sensitive and delicate to look at, she is a “really strong, feisty woman” with a voice that she uses effectively for the causes she believes in.
When asked if Watson has got the pipes to belt out musical scores, “Great singing voice to boot. She’s a triple threat. Makes me sick,” Evans answered.
Beauty and the Beast hits the theaters on March 17, 2017 and joining them in the cast is Dan Stevens as Beast also known as Prince Adams.
