'Battlefield 5' release, plot updates: Game may take World War I setting; October release eyed

Fans are already aware that the “Battlefield” franchise will have a new installment coming soon, but details regarding its general theme and release date have been in the rumor mill for quite some time now. Nonetheless, recent leaks and hints may have confirmed some information about “Battlefield 5.”

According to The Bitbag, Joe Brammer, a game producer who worked on war themes in the past, reportedly got a preview of “Battlefield 5” and was impressed by it. The post on his Twitter page reportedly teased, “I’ve seen things #BF5 things and I am beyond excited.” However, the message was also deleted shortly after because of the overwhelming flood of questions and reactions from the public. He simply compensated it with a follow-up post saying, “Ha, clearly a mistake on my part! A massive oversight on the desperation for squeezing information! ;)”

Nonetheless, many believe that the upcoming title will indeed feature a war setting, particularly World War I, given Brammer’s background. This is consistent with the long-running rumor about the theme of “Battlefield 5” especially after the disappointments expressed for “Battlefield Hardline.”

Meanwhile, there are also rumors that the game will be released on Oct. 10 this year. Electronic Arts (EA) CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed before that “Battlefield 5” will be launched around October this year to March next year with a still uncertain date, reported the Daily Star.

However, a game researcher named Liam Robertson shared a photo on his Twitter account about two months ago of what looks like a listing of the game online. In the photo leak, the game is expected to be on sale starting Oct. 10 and will be available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.

Fans will still have to take both information with a grain of salt, as no official word has been revealed regarding it. More details will likely come as its announcement date nears.
