'Batman Vs Superman' director Zack Snyder confirms son isn't playing Robin, gives young filmmakers chance to work with him

Rumors recently circulated that Zack Snyder’s 19-year-old son Eli is playing Robin the Boy Wonder in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The director, has, however denied these allegations.

In an interview with Yahoo, Snyder said, “It’s funny because every now and then someone will touch on something that’s kind of true, but the next thing they say makes me realize that they took a wild guess. It’s fun for everyone to speculate and take shots and think of things and try to sell it. There’s an industry in selling your guess.”

He added, “There’s a rumor that my son is [playing] Robin. It’s not true. Now there are all these images of him that people have made where he’s dressed like Robin. It’s fun to hear and see them.”

Snyder also told Yahoo that he began his career making commercials with his college friends. He has thus partnered with Doritos in search of the next great filmmaker to work with him in the next DC Universe films. In addition to appearing in an advertisement for Super Bowl, the winner of Doritos’ annual Super Bowl commercial competition will receive a grand prize million dollars and a chance to work on the set of Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment’s upcoming films. Snyder hopes that the initiative can encourage aspiring filmmakers, telling Yahoo, “We have this giant berth of opportunity with the DC movies now to find the opportunities for even young filmmakers to even get involved because there are so many projects.”

Participants are tasked to create a 30-second ad for Doritos, to be broadcast during the Super Bowl. The winner will be chosen by Doritos fans and Snyder. Furthermore, 3 finalists will be selected from a pool of 50 semifinalists. The three will get a chance to watch the game from a private room at the Super Bowl.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” hits theaters March 2016.
