'Batman v Superman' rumor: Lauren Cohan joining the cast?

With only two more weeks left before its release, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is rumored to have another addition to its cast. The word is that the film will feature “The Walking Dead” actress Lauren Cohan as Bruce Wayne’s mother, Martha Wayne.

Her inclusion in the cast is not yet confirmed but the IMDb website has her name listed right below that of Gal Gadot, who is playing Dana Prince/ Wonder Woman in the movie. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, another “The Walking Dead” star, is also part of the cast and he is playing Batman’s father, Thomas Wayne.

It is expected that the two are included for some flashback scenes in the movie. The guess is that they will be in a scene wherein the young Bruce Wayne witnesses his parents being murdered in an alley.

The movie stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/ Batman and Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/ Superman. Joining them, aside from Gadot, are Laurence Fishburne, Amy Adams along with Diane Lane who is part of “Man of Steel” and Jeremy Irons as Alfred — replacing Michael Caine for the role — the Wayne family’s butler.

Superman’s arch enemy Lex Luthor will be played by Jesse Eisenberg. There’s an entirely new role, just created for this movie, that of Senator Finch, who will be played by Holly Hunter. The movie will also have a surprise appearance of Aquaman, with Jason Momoa, of the “Conan the Barbarian” 2011 remake, playing the role.

The plot of the movie revolves around the battle between Batman and Superman, the former fearing that the latter’s power is left unchecked. So, he takes on the most powerful god-like person on Earth. With the two immersed in battle, unbeknownst to them, a new threat arises, threatening the Earth and its inhabitants like they were never threatened before.
