For those wondering when the sequel to the 2013 film “Man of Steel” will be, you do not have to wonder anymore. Zack Snyder, director, said that the upcoming “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is “Man of Steel 2.”
In an interview with Steve Tiley of Canoe, Snyder said, “I think in a way Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2. Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.”
It seemed that a standalone movie featuring Superman is not in the books right now considering that Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Aquaman will have their movies from 2017 to 2020. This could mean that DC is more interested in building up the Justice League.
Asked about the reason behind the making of more superhero films especially after DC announced that “Justice League Part One” will be in November 2017 and “Justice League Part Two” in June 2019, Snyder just replied that everything is about the mythology of the great comic book icons including Superman and Batman.
The director also commented that before he was tapped to work in the DC cinematic universe, he was making a remake of Dawn of the Dead in Toronto. “If you told me that I might make a ‘Justice League’ movie, I wouldn’t think that that was weird. But I don’t think I would realize what it meant to pop culture the way it has struck pop culture right now.”
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be released worldwide on March 25, 2016. It will star Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Price, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Returning for the film are Amy Adams and Laurence Fishburne. Likewise, Jason Momoa will make a cameo as Aquaman.
