Things are not looking good for Norman (Freddie Highmore) and Mother (Vera Farmiga) as the fifth season of “Bates Motel” is about to conclude.
As seen in the penultimate episode, Norman (Freddie Highmore) was in jail waiting for his preliminary hearing. Julia (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) suggested that he should plea for insanity. Meanwhile, Dylan (Max Thieriot) and Emma (Olivia Cooke) were at odds because Dylan thought the latter chose to defend Norman.
At the court, Norman learned that he will be facing the death penalty if found guilty. On the other hand, Madeleine (Isabelle McNally) and Dylan walked out after hearing the evidence presented.
Meanwhile, Emma went to the funeral home to pick up her mother’s ashes. She then dropped by Norma’s grave. Before leaving to go to Seattle, she visited Norman, whose Mother persona took over.
Elsewhere, Romero (Nestor Carbonell) found out where Norman is. He took Regina hostage and ordered the policemen to release the captive. He then put Norman inside his car and forced him to take him to Norma’s grave,
“It will be interesting to see to what extent we’ll get to see Norman again — when or if we’ll get to see Norman again in the course of the last two episodes, now that Mother’s completely taken him over,” Highmore revealed to Entertainment Weekly.
The young actor stated that the Mother is full of tricks. He also said that this persona is very manipulative.
“I found it very funny the idea that she is going as far as she can in terms of telling the story and trying to push people’s buttons and feeling like she’s on top of it and then ultimately the rug’s pulled from beneath her feet,” he explained.
In the upcoming episode, Norman returns to the motel. Will he ever get back to his normal self after all the murder?
“Everything seemed to click,” Highmore asserted. He also said that the last episode is his favorite.
The tenth episode of “Bates Motel” season 5 will air on April 24 on A&E.
