“Bates Motel” will be premiering its fourth season tonight on A&E, and fans of the show are already expecting a bigger and better season for the thriller.
Prior to tonight’s season opener, it was previously noted that Norman (Freddie Highmore) will fully dive into his transition that will ultimately turn him into the psycho known by fans of the film “Psycho.” Last season, snippets of him dressing up as his mother were shown and fans were left wondering how Norma (Vera Farmiga) will take this once she finds out what is happening to her son.
While viewers are waiting for Norman’s metamorphosis, it looks like he is not the only one in the Bates family who will go in a rigorous change as Farmiga reveals that her character will also undergo some changes.
“Norma this year is she is just stronger and bolder and emerges like a phoenix. She has a metamorphosis. She is going to be a beautiful butterfly to me this year, and there is a wisdom hopefully that she is attained, especially from all the harrowing events of the last several years,” Farmiga said to SEAT42F when the media outlet visited the set of the show.
In the fourth season, rumors have that that Norma will find a new love interest, presumably Norman’s new doctor, Gregg Edwards played by Damon Gupton. So, the actress was also asked about what will happen to her and Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell).
“I think you’re going to see it’s pretty complicated between these two, and it’s complex. It’s going to become even more complicated,” Farmiga teased adding that although she did not want to reveal too much, she always try to remind viewers that Norma has a history of being with odd men.
“We don’t know that much about Romero. We know what we want to believe about him, we know what we yearn for them as a couple, but we’re going to investigate that. We’ll see it. It is pretty complicated,” Farmiga added.
