'Attack on Titan' season 2 premiere date in spring 2017: what to expect

There has been much anticipation for the release of the second season of “Attack on Titan,” and fans will now be pleased to learn that the announcement for the premiere of the new season has finally been made.

A new promotional image for the second season was released during the Tokyo International Forum last weekend. The cast was present during the said event and they had a live-reading during the “Attack Festival.”

Season 2 will have some changes within the animated series’ core team. Masashi Koizuka will now be a director of the animated series after having been one of the episode directors in the previous season. Meanwhile, Tetsur? Araki will be the chief director of the show.

Fans of the show have already known since 2014 that there will be a second season of the show, but what they did not is how long they would wait. The original premiere date was supposed to be sometime this year but apparently the animators were still focused on another show, which was “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.” Thankfully, season 1 of the new anime series has finally wrapped up.

Furthermore, another reason was that there was not enough source material from the manga so the team behind the animated series had to wait until there was sufficient material to cover an entire season of the show. So, they released spin-off episodes and back stories of other characters to keep the fans entertained while waiting for season 2 to come out.

The team was also busy with the two live-action movies that were based on the animated series. At the same time, they also gave way for the movie so the fans will focus their attention to it. Sadly, the movie received negative reviews since it deviated from the original storyline of the series.

Fans can now rejoice since the season 2 of “Attack on Titan” will finally be released in spring 2017.
