The cast and crew of the hit post-apocalyptic anime series “Attack on Titan” recently announced that the much awaited and the long rumored second of the anime would finally be coming in spring 2017.
In a report by CrunchyRoll, the announcement for the new season of the hit anime was made during a special live-reading event with the cast and staff of “Attack on Titan” and “Attack on Titan Junior High.” Part of the release date announcement also involved showcasing of the first official visual art of the new season of the anime showing the massive Colossal Titan facing off against the Titan form of series main protagonist Eren Jaeger, with the characters of Armin Arlert and Mikasa Ackerman posed to fight behind him.
The original voice actors for the first season would be returning to reprise their respective roles in the series. Meanwhile, the new season would see some changes in the directorial aspect. Tetsur? Araki is now the overall chief director for the new season of the anime, and Masashi Koizuka was promoted to be the director for the entire season. Previously, in the first season, Koizuka was commissioned as an episode director.
Wit Studio, who also worked on the first season of the “Attack on Titan,” would be once again working on the series. The studio also worked on the new anime “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” which recently wrapped up. The said anime was rumored to be the cause of the delay for the release of the second season of “Attack on Titan.”
To recall, back in November 2014, Y?ki Kaji, Yui Ishikawa, Marina Inoue, and Araki announced that the second season of the anime would be having a 2016 release date. Kaji, Ishikawa, and Inoue are the “seiy?s” or voice actors for the characters of Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, respectively.
