While previously announced to be coming this year, it could very well be that the much awaited second season of anime “Attack on Titan” might no longer be released this year, and will be delayed until sometime next year.
The news of the delay was hinted at by Spanish home video and streaming distributor SelectaVisin. The company revealed in a Mission Tokyo interview and in one of their Facebook comments that Kondasha Comics the publisher for the manga and producer for the anime of “Attack on Titan” said that the new season would no longer happen in 2016.
One of the main reasons that was speculated to be the cause of delay was the new anime “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress,” where the animation studio is said to be more focused at right now, leading to the production of “Attack on Titan” to be shelved.
While there has been no official word on what story the upcoming new season would be taking, it is expected that it would tackle the “Clash of the Titans” and “The Uprising” arcs. Fans who have been keeping tabs on the progress of the original manga already know what is in store for the characters, but fans who only watch the anime are still in the dark.
Should the anime stay close to the storyline of the “Clash of Titans” arc in the manga, it would reveal the real identity of the Armored Titan and The Colossal Titan. An epic all-out fight will take place between them and the Titan shifters of the 104th Trainees Squad. The Beast Titan will also be coming. The Beast Titan is a more intelligent Titan, one that is articulate and is aware of their “weak spot.”
As for deaths in the squad, Hannes will be eaten by The Smiling Titan, which will appear again. It will happen in front of Eren and Mikasa. Eren also gets to improve his Titan power with the “Coordinate” ability. With this ability, his Titan form allows Eren to influence other Titans of weaker kind and type to bend according to his will.
