'Attack on Titan' game update: 10 playable characters, 3 game modes revealed by producer, director

Fans of “Attack on Titan” who want to experience the first season in game form will be able to do so with the game adaptation produced by Koei Tecmo.

In an interview with Famitsu, translated by Gematsu, “Attack on Titan” Producer Hirashi Koinuma and Director Tomoyuki Kitamuta shared what gamers have to look forward to when the game comes out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita on Feb. 18 in Japan.

Among the things that fans have to look forward to are 10 playable characters including fan favorites Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Krista, Sasha, Connie, Jean, Levi, Hange, and Erwin.

The story which spans the length of the entire first season will enable players to experience the story through the perspective of the characters, which will change depending on which point the player is in.

The game will also feature three story modes — wtory mode, “Investigation Outside the Walls” mode, and “Free Mode” which unlocks after completing the story mode.

According to a report by Tech Times, because having giant walls as the background of the game might not be as effective as the manga and anime counterparts, players will have the freedom to explore the game further through the “Investigation Outside the Walls” mode.

“Attack on Titan” will also feature surprise missions and sub-missions that may be featured during battles.

Koinuma and Kitamuta shared that there will be a large variety of original weapons that include Japanese swords and blades.

The two also shared a tip for gamers the Titans’ weakness is its nape but destroying all of its parts will give players rewards.

As you use each character and increase the amount of time you practice, new skills will be unlocked.
