The epic superhero crossover continues as The CW’s “Arrow” coincidentally celebrates a milestone its 100th episode, featuring Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) waking up to a life different from his original timeline.
In episode 8 titled “Invasion!” the protagonist finds himself in a situation where he never got on The Queen’s Gambit. Robert (guest star Jamey Sheridan) and Moira Queen (guest star Susanna Thompson) are alive and well and his former love interest Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is also still in his arms. The latter turns out to be his fiance and their wedding is imminent in the installment. Although everything seems to be perfect, Oliver starts to notice small imperfections that make him question the new reality he is seeing.
Elsewhere, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and the recruits take on a new threat. They will be aided by visiting meta-humans The Flash (Grant Gustin) and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist).
Some speculate that the circumstances brought about an alternate reality for Oliver may have something to do with Flashpoint. It can be recalled that the Scarlet Speedster altered history and introduced another world for the series he headlines. However, it appears that it is only the Green Arrow who is experiencing a new reality as Felicity and the rest are about to fight the Dominators.
On the other hand, the Dominators are deemed to have mind control powers and they could be using Flashpoint as a means of distraction, similar to what Alchemy did to Magenta (Joey King), The Rival (Todd Lasance) and Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale). Oliver may have also been put under the influence which leads him straight to a dream world of sorts.
If it comes to fruition, the appearance of Deathstroke (Manu Bennett) seen in the sneak peek may only be a figment of his imagination. In the clip, Oliver tells the villain, “This is war and I’m gonna fight it the right way because I am all this city has.”
Season 5 episode 8 of “Arrow” is slated to air on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. EST.
