Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) may have removed Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) ring from her finger but she will find that it’s harder to get him out of her heart, Rickards says about her character’s decision to take a break from her fianc in Wednesday’s “Arrow” episode.
In the episode titled “Taken,” Oliver was forced to reveal to Felicity that he had a son, William, who was kidnapped by Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough). Samantha (Anna Hopkins), the boy’s mother, explained that it was her fault that Oliver chose his son over his fiance, but that didn’t stop Felicity from deciding to end her and Oliver’s engagement.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the episode, Rickards gave Olicity fans a bit of hope, saying that Felicity and Oliver are soulmates and revealing that Felicity may find it hard to break off her connection with Oliver completely.
“I don’t think it’s that easy to let go of someone that you have shared such a deep connection with, even if they were hiding things from you,” she said. “She might be able to take off the ring, but I don’t know if she can lose the intertwined connection of her heart, so we’ll see.”
Though, as the actress said, Felicity was “hit hard” and “blindsided” by Oliver’s revelation and she will have to deal with the emotional aftereffects of her break-up with the masked hero, the IT expert does have something to celebrate. At the end of “Taken,” Felicity found out that she could walk again.
“We really did want her to be able to walk again and start a second new chapter, especially with her taking off her ring,” the actress shared.
The CW’s popular superhero series will be taking a mini-hiatus after “Taken” and will return on March 23 with, as Amell said, “some good stuff.”
“We are really building towards our endgame after the conclusion of this episode,” the actor told Variety.
“Arrow” returns Wednesday, March 23, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
