Stephen Amell’s tweet of an Olicity wedding photo ahead of the show’s Feb. 24 episode, “Taken,” in which Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) breaks up with her fianc Oliver (Amell), came as quite a shocker. Now, “Arrow” executive producer Marc Guggenheim has tweeted the same image, this time adding a curious DC Comics-style tease.
The wedding photo, which the “Arrow” boss tweeted on Wednesday, was captioned, “Not a dream sequence. Not a hallucination. Not an alternate reality. Not a flash forward to a potential future.”
In the “Arrow” episode that aired on the same day that Guggenheim tweeted the photo, Oliver/Green Arrow finally told Felicity that he has a son, William, who has been kidnapped by Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough). Though Samantha (Anna Hopkins), the boy’s mother, tried to explain that it was her fault for keeping the boy’s existence from Oliver for ten years, Felicity decides to take a breather from Oliver and calls off their engagement.
Why, then, is there a wedding photo of the two?
Olicity fans will have to stay tuned to Arrow, which returns in March after its mini-hiatus, to find out.
Meanwhile, a new character is reportedly making her way to Star City. In a recent tweet, “Arrow” star Amell announced the casting of 20-year-old actress Madison McLaughlin in an as-yet-undisclosed role.
“Please welcome @MadisonMcLaugh to #Arrow. She plays (redacted) in ep (redacted) & is an expert tailgater in real life. So we’re friends now,” Amell wrote.
The actress, who once appeared in “Supernatural” as the teenaged demon hunter Krissy, may be playing, as TVLine suggests, the role of Rebecca, a “smart, snarky” teenager who has escaped from a dangerous cult. According to the website, McLaughlin may be making her “Arrow” debut in episode 19, which will air in April.
“Arrow” airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
