Apple’s newest operating system iOS 9.3 is here, bringing some interesting updates and added security for the consumers.
According to ABC News, the key features include Night Shift, Health, Notes, CarPlay, and Education.
Specifically, Night Shift uses the device’s clock and geolocation to gradually shift the colors of the display to the warmer end of spectrum as bedtime nears. “Many studies have shown that exposure to bright blue light in the evening can affect your circadian rhythms and make it harder to fall asleep,” the description on Apple’s official website reads. In the morning, the display returns to its regular settings.
Meanwhile, it will now be easier for third-party applications to help achieve user’s goals when it comes to fitness and physical trainings. The Health app puts all the data in a more centralized way and can now also display moving, exercise, and standing information from the Apple Watch.
Keeping information in Notes is also made more secure with the addition of password protect key. The user can also sort notes by date created, date modified, or alphabetically.
For those who may be having a hard time navigating through the new feature, Apple Insider shared a step-by-step guide in doing so. The first step is tapping the unsecured note and simply pressing the Share icon where the “Lock Note” option is hidden.
When tapped, a panel will pop up, asking for an original password and to retype it for verification. There is also a hint that can be entered in case the password is forgotten. The Touch ID may also be used to make the login quicker. Once successful, the note will appear to have a padlock icon.
Moreover, CarPlay is equipped with useful settings such as “New” and “For You” from Apple Music which delivers songs, artists, and albums chosen by experts based on preferences. A “Nearby” feature located in Maps also lets the driver find the nearest gas, parking, restaurants, and other locations with a tap.
When it comes to Education, the iPad is now designed for schools to be optimized by students, while reading through everyday news is better tailored according to a reader’s particular interests.
