“American Horror Story” has managed to keep its season 6 theme a secret despite the fact that the show is expected to return to FX later this year. There has been a lot of speculation about the new season’s plot, and the latest theory claims that the show will revisit the first installment of the horror anthology series.
According to Popsugar, there is a possibility that season 6 will be all about the devil, specifically, the Antichrist. It can be recalled that in season 1, it was suggested that the child, which was the result of Tate Langdon’s (Evan Peters) rape of Vivian (Connie Britton), was the spawn of the devil. An ultrasound technician even saw that the baby inside Vivian’s womb had hooves instead of feet. Later, a medium named Billie Dean Howard (Sarah Paulson) explained that the Antichrist will be created from the union of a human and a spirit.
In the finale, Constance (Jessica Langdon) had taken the child, now named Michael Langdon. Constance discovered that Michael had murdered his babysitter, and the final scene saw Constance standing over the corpse and saying, “Now what am I gonna do with you.”
The last time show creator Ryan Murphy talked about the upcoming season, Murphy hinted at PaleyFest in March that there were two themes that were being considered, including “elements of children.” This seemed to support the website’s theory, and the fact that the show only released a cryptic logo featuring the number 6 also makes this theory highly plausible.
Murphy has maintained that all the seasons of the show are connected, despite their very different themes. At PaleyFest, the show creator said, “The deeper we go into the series we will see that it is a definite universe and all of the worlds are connected.”
Popsugar speculates that this connection will come into play if last season’s “Hotel” mogul Will Drake’s (Cheyenne Jackson) son ends up in boarding school with Michael Langdon.
“American Horror Story” season 6 premieres on Sept. 14 on FX.
