'American Horror Story' season 6 cast news, spoilers: Lady Gaga, Angela Bassett returning to 'AHS'; Two new seasons in 2016?

Lady Gaga has confirmed that she will be back for another round of “American Horror Story.”

In a recent interview, the multi-awarded singer/actress revealed that she is headed back to the FX horror anthology series but would not provide details about her character and how many episodes of the new season she will appear in.

During a visit to the New York radio station Z100, the “Til It Happens To You” singer answered “yes” to the question of whether or not she is returning to the popular Ryan Murphy-produced horror series. Gaga made her television acting debut in the show’s fifth season, taking over the lead role from Jessica Lange, who chose not to return to the FX series after starring in the first four seasons.

The singer’s portrayal of the bloodthirsty Countess in the fifth season of “AHS” earned her a Golden Globe award in January. As FX has yet to make an official announcement on the season 6 roster, it is not known whether Gaga will be a regular cast member or will only appear in a cameo. When asked if she could share details about her upcoming role, Gaga told Z100, “I can’t promise you how or when or anything like that.”

In 2015, Murphy confirmed that he had asked the singer to return for another season.

“Lady Gaga is so brilliant in AHS Season 5 that yesterday I officially asked her to join Season 6. Say yes @ladygaga!” the “American Horror Story” executive producer tweeted in October.

Apart from Gaga, the only other cast member that has been confirmed to return for season 6 is Angela Bassett.

Not much else is known about the upcoming season. In January, FX boss John Landgraf told Vanity Fair that the season 6 story will be “principally set in the present” with “echoes of the past.”

In 2015, Murphy told Entertainment Weekly that the “AHS” writing team was considering doing two seasons of the series this year, 2016.

“Next year we might do a fall ‘American Horror Story’ and a spring,” he said in August. “We have to decide…The next thing we’re crafting up is very, very different than this. Not smaller. But just not opulent. More rogue and more dark.”

FX has not announced the formal cast roster for season 6. The new season is expected to air in the fall.
