When American Horror Story: Hotel opens its doors on October 1, it will welcome as a guest one of the most infamous female murderers in history Aileen Wuornos.
In real life, Aileen Wuornos was a serial killer convicted for killing seven men in Florida from 1989-1990 while she was working as a prostitute. She was executed by lethal injection in 2002.
Her fictional counterpart is going to be played by Lily Rabe, who, in the past seasons of the horror anthology, has played a wide array of characters, including a nun, a hippie witch, and a crazy wife of a celebrity doctor.
Show creator Ryan Murphy himself broke the news and expressed his excitement over the character who will appear in the Halloweed episode entitled Devil’s Night. In fact, he loved developing the story so much that he will be directing the episode.
“I’m directing it because I love the script so much, when we finished it I said, ‘I can’t give this to anybody else.’ Lily Rabe is coming to that episode. [Lily] is playing Aileen Wuornos, which is really fun and bizarre. I don’t want to give too much away, but I will tell you that she’s at the centerpiece of that, and that’s who she’s playing,” Murphy told the LA Times.
Another character to watch out for is Lady Gaga’s character Elizabeth, who will be the object of affection of many of the Hotel’s guests. The character, based on the singer’s request, will be an evil character but will be limiting her stint to simply acting as there will be no singing required of her in the show.
The character is expected to have some hot and steamy scenes with other cast members Matt Bomer, Finn Wittrock, Cheyenne Jackson and Angela Bassett.
Based on her social emdia posts, Mother Monster seems to be enjoying her gig.
“Thoughts on first day shooting for AHS? I say, I’ve died and gone to my personal heaven,” she posted on Twitter.
