Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 spoilers: show returns this fall with more ex-husband action for Agent Melinda May

There will be yet more ex-husband “action” for Ming-Na Wen’s Agent Melinda May in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as actor Blair Underwood is set to appear on several number of episodes throughout the entire run of the third season.

According to a report by Variety, Blair Underwood is set to return to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for its third season, once again as Andrew, ex-husband of Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen). In the final moments of the second season, the two are seen prepping for a vacationa very much deserved rest after all the conflict and all the fighting with Jiaying’s group of Inhumans.

Other cast announcements for the upcoming season include Constance Zimmer, playing the role of the head of a mysterious government agency that exists to pin down powered beings. Andrew Howard also joins the cast as Banks, “an authoritative and intimidating agent”. Previous actors Henry Simmons and Luke Mitchell are promoted as series regular.

“People seem to respond to powered people on the show and while it’s not going to take over and become what the show’s about, as a texture and flavor of the stories, we really enjoy that,” said Jeff Bell, show’s executive producer, in an interview with Variety. “The fact that Inhumans are now out there is something I think we need to investigate and 22 episodes makes for a long season… I do expect for us to investigate this plan that Skye (Chloe Bennet) and Coulson have about starting something that could be pretty entertaining.”

The Secret Warriors from the comic books will also be introduced for the upcoming season. According to Marvel, the aftermath of the war with Jiaying will see Director Coulson search the world for more powered people and assemble a team that will deal with threats unlike the world has ever seen. Little did they know that they are not the only ones looking to track and gather these Inhumans.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on ABC September 29.
