“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will continue to explore the brewing Inhumans plotline in this week’s episode.
Titled “Watchdogs,” the chapter will see Agent Mack (Henry Simmons) and his brother (played by guest star Gaius Charles) getting stuck in the middle of chaos when an extremist group dubbed as The Watchdogs tries to get rid of the Inhumans. The episode will also show Mack going on a homecoming vacation after the emotional episode last week which saw S.H.I.E.L.D saying goodbye to two of their own.
“It was also fun coming off the episode where we had to say goodbye to Bobbi [Adrianne Palicki] and Hunter [Nick Blood], so it was good shooting that,” Simmons told the audience in WonderCon 2016, when he appeared in the show’s panel, referencing his homecoming in the show.
“They’re exploring a little bit of his life outside of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” he said of Mack. “The opportunity where they explore how lives are affected, families are affected, by if someone is S.H.I.E.L.D. and they aren’t allowed to tell, ‘Hey, I’m in S.H.I.E.L.D.’ They’re not allowed to talk about that, and just how relationships are delicate and strained when you’re in S.H.I.E.L.D. and you can’t really tell anyone what you’re doing. It’s difficult.”
Aside from Agent Mack, Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) will also have a pivotal episode as she will be discovering a powerful chemical that can potentially change the fate of the Inhumans. What is yet to be revealed is whether Simmons’ arc has something to do with The Watchdog’s campaign of eradicating the super powered beings. In a brand new sneak peek for the episode, Simmons is seen working on her firearms skills as she tries to cope with the feeling of being helpless and a burden to her comrades after the events that transpired in prior episodes.
IGN further added that a familiar face will return to the thick of things and while he has appeared in the show before, there have been a lot of things that happened since he first visited the agency. The events, in turn, have altered his vision and take on the evolution of powered people. Unfortunately, the website did not drop a name on who the mysterious visitor will be.
“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” season 3 airs every Tuesday nights on ABC.
