'Agent Carter' season 3 news: third season may not happen, Hayley Atwell to work on new project

There are rumors that “Agent Carter” season 3 is bleak, especially after the actress who plays the main role, Hayley Atwell, has recently signed a new project titled “Conviction.”

In a report by Entertainment Weekly, it revealed that the new show will be a political drama series created by Liz Friedman of Marvel’s “Jessica Jones,” and Liz Friedlander of “The Following.” On the other hand, Mark Gordon from “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders,” along with Nick Pepper, are said to be the executive producers of the upcoming show.

She will be playing the role of a character also coincidentally named Carter, although this may still be changed on screen. As for her character description, she will be a “brilliant but never-do-well daughter of a former President, who is blackmailed into taking a job as the head of Los Angeles’ newly created Conviction Integrity Unit. She, along with her team of lawyers, investigators and forensic experts, work together to examine cases where there’s credible suspicion that the wrong person may have been convicted of a crime.”

At the moment, no release date has been announced regarding the new television series. Similar to “Agent Carter,” it will also be under the wings of ABC network.

Meanwhile, with her new project coming, there are speculations and rumors that “Agent Carter” may not be renewed for season 3. Although there are some actors and actresses who have multiple engagements, her current show is also having struggles.

According to Deadline, the small screen adaptation of “Agent Carter,” which follows the story of Peggy Carter seen in “Captain America: The First Avenger” is reportedly struggling with its ratings, putting it on a risk of non-renewal for season 3.

Aside from this, the show, which is now on its second season, seems to be speeding up to air its remaining episodes as it is slated for back-to-back episodes on Feb. 16 and 23 for episodes 6 to 9, before most likely concluding on March 1 with episode 10.

The network and show creators have not announced anything about “Agent Carter” season 3 at the moment.
