Media personnel recently witnessed the unveiling of RAM’s 2017 Power Wagon during the ongoing 2016 Chicago Auto Show. The heavy-duty truck radiates an aura of true power, and not just a show-off kind of truck.
If looks alone would be the basis for aggression, the upcoming RAM Power Wagon is not short of it. The all-new matte black grille and the blacked-out headlights radiate a no-backing-out attitude when it comes to work. The front is actually a remnant of the 2015 RAM Rebel, on which it was first introduced. The exclusive Power Wagon decals and graphics on its hood and sides make it hard not to be unnoticed wherever it will go. To finish it off, a 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires wrapped around a 17-inch black-centered forged-aluminum wheels that are sure not to tiptoe on any kind of terrain.
When it comes to power, the upcoming RAM Power Wagon is equipped with the 6.4 HEMI V8 engine that provides 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. It is then paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission and to a part-time BorgWarner 44-47 manually shifted transfer case. This combination provides the ultimate power control during 4-wheel driving and crawling. It is also complemented by a Hill-descent control to assist while maneuvering down steep terrain.
The 2017 RAM Power Wagon also comes equipped with Bilstein monotube dampers at the front, Bilstein shock absorbers at the back, and another Bilstein damper between the axle and the truck’s frame. The truck also includes an anti-roll bar, that can be disconnected if a bigger axle articulation is needed, which can also reconnect itself when the right driving speed is achieved. Plus, there is a 12,000-lb capacity Warn-built winch, positioned right in front of the bumper, that ensures that it can get others out of tight situation, and it comes standard.
The 2017 RAM Power Wagon will be available this coming fall. The public can check out RAM’s new truck at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show from Feb. 13 to 21.
