2016 Toyota Innova launch set for November in Jakarta; plus interior and front grille among the features

Japanese automotive giant, Toyota, is said to release its 2016 Toyota Innova some time from October 28 to November 1, 2015. The multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) is rumored to have been spotted road testing many times in camouflage this year.

According to International Business Times India, the car manufacturer has refused to give any information about the release and features of the Innova. However, it is reported to be based “on the platform IMV (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle).” Moreover, the new generation of the vehicle will come equipped with dual air bags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), shark fin antenna, three-point seatbelts for seven passengers, and a middle seat Isofix.

The same report from IBTimes India also indicated that the Innova will be powered by a 2.4 or 2.5-liter diesel engine, and it will come as a standard six-speed manual or automatic in terms of transmission. As for the design, the vehicle will boast a bigger front grille and redesigned front and rear bumpers. There will also be fog lights and headlamps that have LED daytime running lights.

Inside, the 2016 Toyota Innova is suggested to have a new steering wheel and dual-tone interior. A touchscreen head unit will also be installed although the report did not state if this will be a standard feature or an add-on.

Meanwhile, Indonesian website Otomotif.kompas.com, reported that the all-new MPV will be launched in Indonesia, where the global debut event will also happen. This news seems to be echoed by another Indonesian website, Autonetmagz. It claims that the 2016 Innova will be launched during the 2015 Jakarta Auto Show, which is scheduled to be held alongside Indocomtech, the country’s IT exhibition.

The Toyota Innova is sold primarily in India, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia. The last update to the MPV was released in 2013, and it involved cosmetic revisions mostly with mechanical aspects remaining unchanged.
