2016 McLaren 650S GT3 news: Official specs revealed


McLaren Automotive has unveiled the newest car model 2016 650S GT3 ahead of its official debut next month during the Geneva Motor Show.

In the official press release, the automaker revealed the vehicle which features yellow and black race colors that is said to compete with the likes of the Lamborghini Huracan GT3.

Specifications include addition of dive planes to stick the front of the car to the road, enormous rear wing for downforce, and a set of Pirelli PZero racing tires for exteriors.

Meanwhile, the interior features carbon fiber racing seat, six-point harass, and adjustable pedals. The dash panel with the information display is made of lighter weight carbon fibre, and there is also a fire extinguisher in case of an emergency. When the cabin is stripped down, an auxiliary power for the radio and specialised computers engine management and anti-locking braking can be found.

Under the hood it has 125-liter racing feel tank with rapid fuelling connector for a quick pit stop, built-in air jacks for the crew to just snap air line for service, and ability to pop up off the ground for faster replacement of tires. The version of the engine is race-prepared 3.8-liter twin-turbo which can pump limited power of 650 horsepower to make all cars in the race equal.

It has also been confirmed that Factory Drivers Rob Bell and Alvaro Parente will once again be part of the team alongside 24-year-old Cme Ledogar. Moreover, Colin Thompson joins Driver Academy for 2016 season.

McLaren GT’s managing director Andrew Kirkaldy shared his enthusiasm of the news saying, “The 2016 season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and challenging so far, with more cars racing in more championships across the world. With the combination that our factory line-up offers, along with the talent in our Driver Academy, we are hoping for another good year.”
